Availability
Which devices support SpeechCatcher?
SpeechCatcher is available for iPad and also works on Mac computers with Apple Silicon. Releases for Android tablets, Android phones, and iPhones are planned for fall 2026. These are targets, not guaranteed release dates. Check the App Store listing for current device requirements and availability in your country or region.
Why is SpeechCatcher available in some countries but not others?
Regulatory requirements for clinical apps vary by country and region. We are rolling out SpeechCatcher in stages so we can review and meet the requirements that apply in each market before making the app available there.
Tests and languages
What languages does SpeechCatcher support?
SpeechCatcher is designed for speech assessment in multilingual settings. Tools include custom IPA entry, language and dialect metadata, alternate word forms, and tone support where relevant. Testing in a language or dialect requires a suitable test; the available options depend on that test. The app interface is available in Danish, English (including Australian, British, and American English), French (including Canadian French and French from France), German, Greek, Icelandic, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Slovenian, Spanish, and Swedish. Interface translations are separate from test availability and language-specific analyses or norms. Coverage is expanding. Clinical use and security
Is SpeechCatcher secure?
SpeechCatcher uses industry-standard encryption, data privacy, and security protocols to protect your data. We have self-reviewed our privacy practices against PIPEDA, Canada’s federal private-sector privacy law. For details about how we handle your data, read our Privacy Policy.
Can SpeechCatcher be used to replace speech clinicians?
No. SpeechCatcher supports, rather than replaces, professional judgment. Clinicians review recordings, transcriptions, and speech errors before generating and interpreting clinical and linguistic analyses. Reports include observations in plain language, with reference to norms in all languages for which such norms are available in SpeechCatcher. Implemented norm references currently cover Danish, English, French, German, and Greek, with coverage varying by source and age range. The clinician determines whether those references are appropriate for the client. Norms are supplied through our team, not entered directly by users.
AI and future plans
Does SpeechCatcher use artificial intelligence (AI)?
No. The SpeechCatcher app does not currently use AI features. Its process suggestions and analyses use rule-based algorithms developed through decades of research on speech development and speech disorders. Many of these functions are adapted for specific languages and dialects.
Will SpeechCatcher add AI features in the future?
We are exploring AI features for the SpeechCatcher app that could reduce routine work while keeping professional judgment central. This work is exploratory: no AI features or release dates are committed.
What is planned next for SpeechCatcher?
Our current priorities include Android tablets and phones, and iPhones, with releases planned for fall 2026. We are also working on additional testing and analysis methods, including word and non-word repetition and consistency analysis. Working with researchers specializing in different languages, we will continue to expand our references to developmental norms and support for speech testing in multilingual settings. These are plans, not guaranteed release dates.
